VirtualBox is a general-purpose full virtualizer for x86 hardware, targeted at server, desktop and embedded use. This guide will show you how to install and run Ubuntu 18.04 or Ubuntu 19.04 64-bit on a virtual machine running under virtual box.
The following quick video tutorial will help you to create a virtual machine under virtualbox and then install and run Ubuntu 18.04 or 19.04 64-bit on it.
Prerequisites
You must have latest available version of virtualbox and enough resources in terms of memory, processor and disk space to run virtual machines on your underlying operating system.
Open up VirtualBox and click New as show in image below to start creating a virtual machine.
Name: Ubuntu 18.04
Machine Folder: Where you to want to store your virtual machines
Type: Linux
Version: Ubuntu (64-bit)
Click Next.
Enter your desired amount of memory for your virtual machine and click Next.
Select Create a virtual hard disk now and click Create.
Select VMDK (Virtual Machine Disk) and click Next.
Select Dynamically allocated and click Next.
Enter the amount of disk space you want and click Create.
Now select the virtual machine you created and click Settings.
Click Controller: ID Empty and choose Virtual Optical Disk File and select the iso image file of Ubuntu.
Ubuntu 18.04 desktop 64-bit iso image is selected.
Click Ok
Power UP your virtual machine
and when you see the following screen, click Install Ubuntu to begin the installation process.
For Ubuntu 19.04, instruction will remain same except to choose Ubuntu 19.04 iso image.
Installation method is almost similar to earlier release of Ubuntu.
